Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum collections consist of geographical, geological, botanical, fauna, and paleontology sections. Being the 19th largest country in the world in terms of area, Mongolia has a lot to offer starting from endangered indigenous animals, rare herbs and fossils including dinosaur skeletons and mammals. Currently the museum is closed due to renovation.
Part of its exhibition, particularly dinosaur skeletons, dated from 220 to 270 million years ago are all permanently placed in a newly established The Central Museum of Mongolian Dinosaurs near the Independence square.Actively operating from 2015 March, it is now a place roaming with local and foreign visitors who came to learn more about the giant animals once dominated the world, and see them in their actual size.
